Business advisory services:

As the external accountant, registered tax agent and advisor for our client, we are rightfully requested by business management or owners to assist across the various phases of a business life cycle. This can be summarised as follows:

Pre-commencement:
Raising capital will mean consulting on the appropriate structure that meets the needs of ownership and considers the differing tax outcomes of different options. Furthermore, finance for a new business venture or investment is often required. We therefore are here to provide financial forecasts and business plans as requested by the various financiers.

Understanding responsibilities:
We advise to management and key stakeholders of their various tax and reporting obligations and provide solutions on how to work together to efficiently and effectively achieve such requirements.

Growth phase:
As the business or investment has established its operations, we work in partnership with the business owner to grow the business. This will involve:
・Educating our client to better understand the financial aspects of their business.
・Benchmarking the business with their industry peers where appropriate and to identify variances which could mean possible areas of improvement or errors in record keeping.
・Tax changes and how to navigate them to ensure the business changes to meet these new requirements. As government passes new legislation, our staff are consistently undertaking continual professional development. This involves monthly seminars and conferences to keep abreast of latest legislation changes.

End phase:
The business may eventually cease in the form of a negotiated sale or as a voluntary wind up by the owners. We assist management and owners to consider the differing tax options available to maximum the financial outcome under each situation. Not only at the corporate level but at the ownership level as well. For many small businesses, various small business capital gains tax concessions are available and it is our key responsibility to identify opportunities to utilise such concessions and advice how to apply them appropriately.

Taxation planning:

This involves assisting our clients in finding practical solutions to various taxation issues which may arise either as an individual or as a business entity. The Australian tax landscape is complex with many different taxes which are not known to our clients. We assist our clients to understand these different taxes and how they will impact their tax situation.

This can involve finding legal methods to reduce and minimise Capital Gains Tax upon a sale of a investment or business asset. Alternatively, prior to important asset acquisitions or investment decisions, structuring decisions which will create optimal taxation outcomes during the years of operation whilst also balancing the commercial and business needs of all key stakeholders.

Financial reporting:

At the pre-commencement stage of a business, we assist our clients to understand their financial reporting requirements. The financial reporting requirements will differ depending on the industry as well as the size or scale of their business. We discuss your options for managing your records to ensure you are in the best position to meet your annual financial reporting obligations.

Superannuation :
We specialise in assisting our clients navigate the inreasing regulated and complex area of Self Managed Superannuation Funds with the regulatory reporting and tax compliance aspects for our SMSF clients.
